'Minimizing Blood Loss' is the second pillar of Bloodless Surgery. Dr Margit Kaufman presents a lucid overview of the perioperative techniques that may be effectively employed to minimize blood loss and improve clinical outcomes.
Dr Kaufman is the Medical Director, Institute for PBM and Bloodless Medicine & Surgery, Englewood Hospital, Englewood NJ, USA. She specializes in the fields of anesthesiology, critical care medicine, and patient blood management. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and subsequently completed a residency in Anesthesiology. She then pursued a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, during which she developed a particular interest in patient blood management.
As the Medical Director of the Institute for Patient Blood Management & Bloodless Medicine and Surgery at Englewood Health, Dr. Kaufman has led numerous initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes through evidence-based blood management practices. Most recently, Dr Kaufman has created a mobile and web-based app to improve compliance for patient blood management metrics and improve efficiency of the treatment for patients for whom blood transfusion is not an option. Dr. Kaufman is dedicated to advancing the field of patient blood management, improving patient outcomes, and promoting safe and effective healthcare practices.
