MEDIZIN - Electrosurgical principles in the control of surgical blood loss (Akanimo Essiet MD) (2023)

 

Electrosurgical techniques contribute significantly to minimizing blood loss in modern surgery and greatly enhance bloodless surgery.  Dr Akanimo Essiet's lecture outlines the fundamentals of electrosurgical techniques and their application for safe surgery.

Dr Essiet is a Professor of Urological Surgery in the University of Calabar, Nigeria and a Chief of Urology in the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, with special interest in Reconstructive and Paediatric Urology. He is a past Head of department of Surgery and holds the Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, where he was once served as third Senate Member for the Faculty of Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons where he is President elect of the Nigerian Section and due to be installed into office about a month from now (in June 2023). He holds a diploma in minimal access and laparoscopic surgery and has to his credit, well over 50 publications as peer reviewed articles in top surgical journals and some book chapters. Professor Essiet is an actively practising surgeon and plies his trade with passion.
