Massive haemorrhage protocol originated in bloodless care, but is now being applied to all patients instead of massive transfusion protocol, because of adverse outcomes and lack of efficacy of allogeneic blood products. Dr. Suydam is a Trauma/Acute Care/Surgical Critical Care attending surgeon at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. She is also the Medical Director of the Patient Blood Management and Bloodless Medicine program at Allegheny Health Network.
