Sherri Ozawa-Morriello RN, MSN describes the important role of the nurse as a bloodless medicine educator in a very informative lecture.
Sherri has been a leader in the field of patient blood management (PBM) and Bloodless Medicine for more than two decades. She helped create one of the largest and most widely known multidisciplinary Bloodless Medicine programs in the world at Englewood Hospital, NJ, USA. She has published numerous peer reviewed abstracts, posters, book chapters, and articles on the subject. She has also worked extensively with regulatory agencies, such as The Joint Commission, to analyze and develop better organized PBM Programs. She served as an Investigator on the first US Federal Government Grant via the Department of Defense funding the creation of an organized training program for physicians and other health care professionals in the field of bloodless medicine. She was also a founding member and Immediate Past President of SABM. She currently serves as Clinical Resource Director for Accumen, Inc. Sherri received the Award of Excellence in 2019 from the Bloodless Medicine & Surgery Society.
